  24. Kentfield, CA, September 23, 1993 - Today, GS Corporation began
  25. shipping eXTRASLIDE, their highly advanced software for imaging
  26. presentation graphics using the Polaroid CI-5000S Digital Palette
  27. Film Recorder.  eXTRASLIDE, like its sister products, eXTRASET and
  28. eXTRAPRINT, represents a new level of output device driver
  29. integration only possible through the NEXTSTEP operating system.
  30. eXTRASLIDE can be used as a stand-alone application or as a
  31. standard NEXTSTEP printing device.

  33. Any NEXTSTEP application that prints, can print directly to the
  34. Polaroid CI-5000S film recorder using eXTRASLIDE. Just select the
  35. resolution (up to 4000 lines) and film type, and eXTRASLIDE
  36. rasterizes the image and sends it directly to your film recorder.
  37. eXTRASLIDE integrates seamlessly with NEXTSTEP and allows for easy
  38. printing over a network. Those working in mixed computing
  39. environments can use Partner (printing and networking software from
  40. IPT, Inc.) to print directly from their Macintosh slide-making
  41. software to eXTRASLIDE - no need to transfer the files to the
  42. NEXTSTEP server.

  45. As a stand-alone application, eXTRASLIDE incorporates a number of
  46. features which are only possible with NEXTSTEP, NeXT, Inc.'s object
  47. oriented operating system and development environment. For example,
  48. you can queue up files for processing by choosing them from the
  49. NEXTSTEP Workspace File Viewer and either selecting "Open in
  50. eXTRASLIDE" from the Services Menu, or by just
  51. "dragging-and-dropping" them onto eXTRASLIDE's Image Framing panel.
  52. Click on a filename to activate it, and eXTRASLIDE previews the
  53. image in the Preview Panel. Scale and position the image in
  54. real-time, and set the slide's background color (using the standard
  55. NEXTSTEP Color Picker). Choose "Expose,"  and eXTRASLIDE performs
  56. on-the-fly color correction for your selected film type and images
  57. the film in as little as two minutes per file (depending on
  58. complexity).

  60. The Polaroid CI-5000S film recorder has a built-in 640K image
  61. buffer which helps produce exposures quickly. Interchangeable
  62. camera backs (sold separately) will output the images on over 20
  63. different types of film from 35 mm up to 4" x 5" format. GS
  64. Corporation also offers a number of accessory packages for
  65. eXTRASLIDE, including automatic film processors, slide mounters,
  66. overhead viewers, camera backs, and starter film packs.

  68. eXTRASLIDE is a Multiple Architecture Binary (MAB) application
  69. which comes with the Polaroid CI-5000S film recorder and a 35 mm
  70. camera back. The suggested list price for this complete package is
  71. $5995. The software alone carries a list price of $995. Either way,
  72. eXTRASLIDE is available from GS Corporation directly, or through
  73. one of GS Corp.'s GOLD Resellers.
